Current Opportunities

Occupational Therapist Position for September 2019

Lead Foundation is growing and we are looking for an experienced, self-directed and collaborative Occupational Therapist to join our team.  As a valuable team member, you will support children and families in our Alberta Education funded programs and our FSCD funded programs.  As an excellent problem solver and communicator, you will help develop goals and program plans that support our child-centered and family centered philosophy.  At Lead Foundation, we pride ourselves on having a flexible work environment and positive, supportive multi-disciplinary teams and we will value your creativity and energetic work ethic.

We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist for a permanent position, starting September 2019, for a 10 month contract based on the school year. We are open to this being a full or part time position and will consider all applicants that are suitable for the position. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Conduct assessments/screenings/consultations and therapy for preschool and school aged clients within the Lead program
  • Develop and implement OT goals and programs for children and their families within our Alberta Education and FSCD funded programs.
  • Work directly with children in their ECE programs, homes and/or community setting.
  • Provide coaching to Lead teams and families while supporting our values of child-centered and family centered approach to program planning and intervention.
  • Work with children in the areas of their motor development, sensory processing and regulation, self-care skills and play.
  • Develop and implement internal and external professional learning opportunities that are related to OT areas of practice.

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited University.
  • Current registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapy
  • 1-2 years experience in pediatrics
  • Satisfactory criminal record check
  • Proof of current liability insurance
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

Lead Foundation is growing and we are excited to expand our team. These positions are a ten month position following the school calendar. If you are looking for a position where you can make a difference with children and families, while working with a dedicated and dynamic team, then Lead Foundation is the place for you.

As a member of our Lead team, you will work with children, families, and preschool staff to provide preschool, home and community based supports for children. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will support children and families to promote each child’s individual needs and self- esteem within a family focused program. All Lead Foundation programs are focused on working with children and their families within their community.

Your Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Working with Lead’s teams & families in developing functional, developmentally appropriate goals for children and their families
  • Providing daily support in developing each child’s individuals needs within a family focused program either within their home or community preschool
  • Plan, create and/or adapt materials and activities to each child’s learning strengths, needs and developmental level based on their individual goal
  • Document and gather information on an ongoing basis. Focus on each child’s learning strengths, needs and developmental status. Daily and monthly goal focused notes are required. Ensure confidentiality.
  • Developing, organizing and contributing to the growth and development of our dynamic programs

Your Qualifications Must Include:

  • A degree or diploma in a related field is preferred, along with courses and/or certification in behavior, learning, child development, and other related education
  • More than six months of experience working with children and their families
  • Knowledge of home, community and preschool goal based activities would be an asset
  • Current Alberta driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills;
  • Most importantly, a strong desire to be exceptional and contribute within your new role at Lead
